Chiang Mai accommodations range from the finest resorts and spas to youth hostels and backpackers' guest houses and with more than 300 hotels in the city there is always a choice. Rooms aren't usually listed as single or double and beginning rates can range from 100 Baht to around 16,000 Baht (currently around US$3 to US$500.) Of course rates may have an added premium during holidays and special events. The opposite is also true with some deep discounts available during the tourist low season.Location, location, location isn't everything here. The finest hotels may be hidden quite well down a slightly seedy looking side street and for others, sitting in the middle of a tourist attraction is their only recommendation. I'd suggest thinking about the price or amenities that interest you and then looking for the general area you want. Transportation around the city is easily arranged. Consider a serviced apartment, condo or even a house or townhouse if you can stay longer. Where I have given prices, they are approximate and subject to change or discounts depending on how bookings are done.
